King Uzziah, The Leper King

God Punishes Those Who Disobey Him

2 Chronicles 26, 2 Kings 14:21, 15:1-7

Uzziah became king of Judah at the age of 16 and had a great start to his reign. He trusted and obeyed God. As he became more prosperous, Uzziah started to think he didn't need God. Uzziah decided that he would offer insense to God, even though God had commanded that only the priests do that. Uzziah thought he knew better than God!!! God struck King Uzziah with leprosy for his disobedience. Uzziah lived with this terrible disease until he died.

In our lesson, Uzziah chose to worship God in his own way. God punished him for that. Read Matthew 15:9. Does God care if we make up our own way of worshipping Him?
